AWC was employed by Canterbury Medical Research Foundation (CMRF) to construct a new specialised facility for the Van der Veer Institute for Parkinson's and Brain research. This two storey precast concrete structure incorporated specialists mechanical services such as medical gases. The building contained offices, labs and research facilities. The fit out involved the installation of copper shielded wall linings to the research facility that houses the state-of-the-art General Electric (GE) 3 Tesla HDx MRI scanner. This scanner was the first of its kind in New Zealand and therefore required close co-ordination with General Electric (GE) in Australia during its installation.
